Membership

Our membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March in line with Welsh Athletics’ (WA) registration year.  

• New members joining in January–March will not have to renew in April that year (i.e. you get the extra months included in the year’s membership).  This only applies the first time you join Brecon AC. 

• All newcomers (junior & adult) to Brecon AC can run and train with the club for free for 2 weeks - you will then need to become members to continue running with the group. 

Please note: By becoming a member of the club, you/your child are required to agree to the codes of practice, safe-guarding policies and procedures, anti-doping rules and regulations established by UK Athletics and adopted by Welsh Athletics and Brecon AC. Details here. 

Membership categories & fees 

The membership fee may be waived for any potential members where circumstances mean you are unable to afford the fee. This is at the discretion of the committee. Please Contact Us if this applies to you.  

Benefits of joining Brecon AC 

• We are a supportive and friendly local athletics club, inclusive of all ages and abilities. 

• We offer a range of track and field training sessions for juniors and adults; see Training for more information.     

• Our adults’ social running group, Happy Feet, meets twice a week on Tues and Thurs evenings, with ‘Hill’ and ‘Track’ sessions once a month.  No-one EVER gets left behind!  

• All runs and training sessions are risk-assessed and led by qualified coaches & run leaders with first aid training 

• We hold social events for club members – such as a summer social (tea & rounders) and get-togethers after races. 

• Members get discounted entry into Brecon AC’s Llanfrynach 3-4-5 mile race series 

In addition, membership with Welsh Athletics (WA) registration gives you WA benefits:   

• Public Liability Insurance  whilst you take part in athletics activities (training & racing) 

• £2 discount on a number of road race entry fees and £10 off Cardiff Half Marathon entry 

• The chance to be selected for our region, East Wales, or for Wales or Welsh Masters  

• Eligibility to compete at WA league and championship events such as the Gwent League cross-country matches 

• An individual profile on the UK registration system and Power of 10 / Run Britain. 

• Access to WA events, Webinars, conferences, technical workshops, newsletters etc

How to join 

Adult members (Senior & Senior Social) 

1. Request membership using the Membership Form 

2. You’ll receive an email from Welsh Athletics with a link to pay membership fees – this generally takes a few days

Junior members 

1. We need to ensure that the coach to athlete ratios are appropriate to deliver safe and effective training sessions, so at times we need to put waiting lists in place. Therefore, before submitting a membership form for a new junior member, please fill in the Prospective Junior Member Form 

2. We will contact you to confirm if there is a waiting list or if your child can start training straight away. 

3. You can then fill in the Membership Form to request membership 

4. You’ll receive an email from Welsh Athletics with a link to pay membership fees – this generally takes a few days

To avoid having waiting lists we always welcome any parents who are interested in becoming assistant coaches to support our young athletes. The club will pay for the relevant Welsh Athletics training. Please Contact Us if you would like more information about this opportunity. 

Please note: All registered junior athletes who are coached at the club are expected to be available for competitions, as detailed in Fixtures. 

Membership renewals 

An e-mail with renewal details will be sent out to all current members in April with details of how to pay. You will also need to complete the Membership Form each year so we have your up to date details for both the club and Welsh Athletics.
